​Barbara Kaumeyer - Community Health Financial and Audit Compliance

Barbara Kaumeyer is a Smyrna, Georgia professional who oversees finance, audit, risk management, and compliance with the Georgia Department of Community Health. As Deputy Director of Finance, she assists in financial report planning, preparation, and review. She works with the Financial Services Division to ensure that all processes and procedures are properly documented. Barbara Kaumeyer also represents State interests, when it comes to accounting-related negotiations with outside parties such as vendors, banks, and external auditors.

Ms. Kaumeyer spent 12 years as a Senior Auditor with the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts in Atlanta. In this position, she reviewed non-profit financial statements for compliance, developed audit plans for pensions and OPEB related statements, participated in state-wide asset audit, reconciled the assets for the DOT, performed site visit audits on school boards and regional educational service agencies, with an emphasis on internal controls that improved efficiencies. She also led and trained audit teams in their professional development.

Ms. Kaumeyer is a Jacksonville State University graduate who, in addition, to working at the Department of Audits, she moonlighted as a tax preparer with H&R Block. Active in her professional community and civic responsibilities, Barbara Kaumeyer serves as certification and membership chair with the Georgia Fiscal Management Council and was certification, webmaster, and sponsorship chair with the Association of Government Accountants.
